Talkback has something for everyone. Listeners relish hearing themselves (and people like them) on the radio. Politicians appreciate direct access to voters, while high-profile presenters bask in the attention. However, it wasn't always a radio staple; for years, it was illegal. In Episode 4 of Who Listens to the Radio?, radio legends Wendy Harmer and Dr Sally Cockburn (AKA Dr Feelgood) delve i...

Просмотров 109Месяц назад
As we emerged from the Great Depression, radio became the heartbeat of the nation. By 1937, a mere 15 years after its official launch in Australia, radio claimed pride of place in two of every three homes. These were the Golden Years, when families gathered to listen to sports, soaps, serials, dramas and side-splitting comics. The era was short but profoundly influential, creating a generation ...

I love both
This along with "Valerie and Her Week of Wonders" remains one of my favorite classic films that I ever came across. The beauty and aesthetics, as well as the mystery of the plot is definitely a win.
What a transformation, was in Sydney earlier this year nearby. How much the area has changed and still changing. Well worth a visit. Hope to be back.
I’m not a train nut but there’s nothing more satisfying and relaxing than the sound of a steam train and the howling of its whistle
is this a beer commercial or a movie
Is it just me or was thandiwe darker here?
I used to go to Darling Harbour to hire day labour to unload our wagons for Tattersall Brothers in the early 70s
The story is pure fiction
Did they have drones !!! Some of this great footage looks like drone footage to me. In 1901 the population was 500,000 !!! Who built these incredible buildings ? Please don't say the convicts. I have many more questions regarding our "history" so I'll be doing my own research, starting with the oldest photos of Australia. Thanks for peaking my interest . I've got a feeling it's a rabbit warren.
Mia is such a genuine talented and person. She’s my favorite actress♥️ Love her so much!
What was the name of that Phantom Wolf spirit they call upon?
Mel's American accent sounds so exaggerated whenever I hear interviews, I think he sounds more natural speaking like an OZ.
Another one of my favourite movies
I never saw the character of Miranda as anything more interesting than the rest of the cast . The relationship between the head mistress and Sarah was more the center of the story for me.
this is a great trailer! but it doesn't capture the complexities of this film....
Gold
I live and work in Sydney ... one of the most beautiful cities in the world !!!
They engineers don't wave from the trains anymore; not like they did back in 1954!
Surfing @ 53 sec. Billy carts @ 1.08 Real "billy carts" Great !
🌜 beautiful film, but very strange, make sure you have a few 🍻 u r going to need them 🌛
absolutely awesome ...as long as you werent the poor bugga shoveling 5 ton out and 5 ton back
Notice how the people react to being filmed? They don’t react. Today you would have a buffoon in a uniform arresting you because someone has hurt feelings from being filmed. This how we got pictures of what life was like 110 years ago in the same way photographers film today so we have pictures for the future.
I feel I was born 100yrs too late
Excellence ✅
Enjoing your life is the best, not revenge but satisfaction. Great classic aussie gem.
Great footage.👍
Pretty sure I've seen eternity written in chalk on streets in Sydney
Mick Taylor - a popular character ? I I saw him I'd run like heck !
Absolutely brilliant video thanks so much for sharing. It’s amazing how much this country has changed in even just the last decade let alone in just over a century. I think it’s also a bit sad especially when you look at how this country has become and looking at the footage of places like Luna Park how it bares very little resemblance to back then or even when I was a kid going to Luna Park in Sydney 40 odd to 50 years ago before the Ghost train fire in 1979 and before developers got their grubby hands on the land around it.
John Jarret deserves an Oscar for the Ultimate bad guy role!!! Next time i find a RUclips poll on my favorite bad guy : F Darth Vader 💯 Mick Tailor beats Lee Van Cleef (Angel eyes) or he might have to share that first place! Van Cleef became just 59 yrs Old - Clint Eastwood is now 92🤷🏼♂️ One of my favorite actors! John Jarret “actually beats Clint…” (edit: Clint winn🤣)Time was different and so is Mick Tailor!!! 🫣 Would Love to see Dirty Harry to blow Mick Tailors head clean off…. With his .44 Magnum in Wolf Creek lll 🤣That aint gonna happen 🤷🏼♂️
Them were days.
I like how this Werewolf has a Freddy Krueger like hand lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
With the mad max haircut
All the original clips are bright with good flesh tones, all the restored images are darker with unreal flesh tones like the film his a red filter over it. This is particularly noticeable at 6:39 and 7:07. Give me the original!
Baffling - in the clip at 1:51 everything is bright and clear on the original. As the image changes to the restored version the film becomes dull and loses its clarity as if it’s being viewed through a red tinted filter! Same problem at 2:22 - on the right his face and flowers are too red, and again at 2:26.
It’s so sad that there is no real recognition of the importance of Darling Harbour as a transport hub . It was just demolished for a bloody shopping centre .
Werewolf In Ohio be like =
I know this is meant to parody bad effects but the majority of it looks okay to me. It's not until 1:00 in that I find them silly. Like why is the face so flat?😂😂😂
Thank you❤
This movie never gets olds. It's Gold.
This is so ridiculous it just kept going till it couldn't anymore
Great video
This guy looks like he's a pole puncher....
Interesting to see children playing outside , (jumping of walls into the water, the billy goat carts etc) You don’t really see children playing out much now, not even walking to school …much less playing free.
Where are stream engines now?
Brilliant song that hasn't lost any of its biting relevance.
07:13 - litterbug.
Been on some steam trains in Maitland ,with my bible study group🙂🌺
That was fascinating to watch Sydney has changed of much,no more trams.😊🌺
